Tripling the Impact of an Annual Medical Conference

VPA was brought on as a project manager for a major healthcare company, to spearhead the planning of an annual, system-wide medical conference that had been dwindling in attendance and overall impact for nearly 20 years.

We ended up lessening the organizational strain of planning the event and decreasing unnecessary event costs by a significant amount, creating an event budget surplus and allowing the event to hire a world-renowned keynote speaker the following year.

VPA was asked to stay on and plan the 20th Anniversary event the following year, during which we were able to smoothly host and telecast the live event to two major sites simultaneously, which easily tripled the event’s attendance and impact.

VP worked on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise lines as a professional lecturer, delivering solo presentations to audiences of 500+ guests several times a week, in addition to producing all media content for the Onboard Port & Shopping Network that ran 24-hours a day. VP also prepared and hosted live segments in collaboration with Onboard Marketing, and also co-hosted and/or judged several live entertainment events and competitions.

Whether in port or onboard, from the Caribbean to Alaska, VP was a highly visible spokesperson, and a trusted source of information for thousands of guests.

Quadrupling an Online Retailer’s Annual Revenue

An online retailer hired VPA to help grow their business from $275k/year to $1M/year in revenue, with the goal of utilizing only their existing resources and personnel to do so.

After embedding in the organization to learn more about the startup’s existing SOPs, identify best practices, isolate growth areas, and determine the strengths and limitations of their existing resources and personnel, VPA designed a custom process that was immediately applied to increase the company’s revenue by more than 400% within 12 months; without increasing the advertising budget or bringing on additional full-time staff.

The following year, by continuing to implement and improve VPA’s customized process, the business redoubled revenue, and were able to consistently bring in over $2M/year.

Increasing Effectiveness and Streamlining Processing for Home Healthcare Services Company

In 2010, VP was hired as the office manager of a home healthcare services company, and tasked with completely overhauling the department’s intake process and communications systems.

Using undergraduate journalism training to interview each member of the business to determine what their job was, how they did their job most effectively, and what (if any) impediments they felt were preventing them from accomplishing their tasks more effectively, VP worked closely with the company’s in-house IT team to redesign the office’s telecommunication system; updating the intake process to eliminate the use of paper and physically faxed orders, which decreased average intake and processing times by more than 50% across the board.
